THE QUALITY OF A RESORT, THE FREEDOM OF A B&B
Villa Dei Papiri
The organic farm Villa Dei Papiri in Syracuse is a restored 19th-century Sicilian farmhouse. It covers 17 hectares where lemons (the “femminello siracusano”) and oranges (mori, tarocchi comuni and nocellari) are grown organically. The property is surrounded by papyruses over 3 metres high, palm trees, centuries-old olive trees, almond trees, carob trees, cypresses, bonsai trees and other traditional Mediterranean plants. It is located 5 km from Syracuse, in the River Ciane & Saline Nature Reserve, three metres from the mythological Fonte Ciane, one of the most interesting tourist destinations in the area. It is precisely this spring that preserves the only autochthonous European papyrus station, a plant used since time immemorial for the preparation of those extraordinary paper rolls on which much of the history of human civilisation has been handed down. The area is also of great archaeological interest, as well as naturalistic, since numerous Palaeolithic remains have been found, such as tombs and workplaces with caves and wells. These findings are invaluable evidence of the presence of ancient Sicilian human settlements. It is in this vast nature reserve that Villa dei Papiri is located, a place with a priceless historical and landscape heritage, surrounded by greenery and equipped with every comfort where visitors can relax and appreciate the beauty that surrounds them.
